Poynt reimagined the credit card terminal — turning the beige box next to the cash register into a smart, connected device that merchants could actually run their business on. Agilevent helped develop the software that made it work.
This wasn’t ordinary app development. The terminal ran a custom fork of the Android OS, and the software had to meet the bar payments demand: if the register doesn’t work, the business doesn’t take money. Agilevent built:
- The main register app — the heart of the merchant experience, the software a business touches on every single sale.
- The customer management apps — the tools merchants used to know and serve their customers.
- The architecture for all the terminal’s apps — the shared foundation every application on the device was built on, plus the testing practices that kept a payments device dependable.
Poynt’s smart terminal went on to be acquired by GoDaddy, where the hardware became the centerpiece of GoDaddy Payments.
